Mustard for Weight Loss on a Two Day High Protein Diet

Did you know that using mustard on your food can be beneficial to weight loss fast? Having mustard on your food whilst on a weight loss diet is a way forward if you enjoy condiments.




I have found out something about mustard that I hadn't realised before. I usually like having mustard on certain foods but lately, I have been using mayonnaise because of my Diabetes. But I have honestly been going about it the wrong way because mustard is a better condiment than mayonnaise. It can help you lose weight fast if you use it whilst on a weight loss diet.

According to Livestrong, a low-calorie condiment, such as mustard is a better form of sandwich filler than anything else. Apparently, mustard burns fat. Mustard for weight loss is something you should know if you love condiments like I do.

For instance, if you are going to make a sandwich, then make it with wholemeal bread, lean luncheon meat, light cheese like Philadelphia light spread and then add 1.5 teaspoons of mustard, which is only 5 calories to your sandwich.

Mustard has virtually no sugar in it and it is much better for a Diabetic to have mustard than mayonnaise or ketchup. A tablespoon of mayonnaise is 54 calories and a tablespoon of ketchup is 19 calories. So, mustard for weight loss is better.

Mustard Seeds

Mustard seeds can be used as a spice to flavour dishes. It is a primary ingredient in mustard. Mustard seeds are low in calories and carbohydrates so the seeds will be beneficial for weight loss. 

If you are having a reduced-calorie diet then add mustard to it rather than mayonnaise or anything else. Its carbohydrates come from dietary fibre which is an important nutrient that supports digestive health and it may help control your cholesterol levels. There is also calcium in mustard seeds which promote healthy teeth and bones and it can also aid in weight loss. I have read that calcium can improve weight loss in overweight and obese women.

Which Mustard to Buy

Coleman's original mustard is one of the best mustards. I checked the label and this is what I read:

Of course, I found Heinz Yellow Mustard to be a lot better when it came to having no sugar and salt in mustard. See below:

High Protein Diet Using the Following Foods with Mustard

If you want to lose weight, then I recommend starting a high protein diet along with using some mustard.

Greek Yogurt
Cottage Cheese
Eggs
Steak
Ground beef
Chicken breast
Salmon
Halibut
Beans
Lentils
Sardines
Tuna

Below is an idea of a two-day high protein food plan that can be used with mustard. Here are some meals that are high protein: Add mustard for taste for some of them.

Day One
Breakfast

Broccoli & Parmesan Cheese Omelet
Add 1.5 teaspoon of mustard

Snack

1 cup of sugar-free jelly
1/3 cup nonfat Greek yogurt

Lunch

1 cup of tuna
1 tablespoon of cottage cheese
1 teaspoon of mustard

Snack

Salt & Pepper Edamame Pods
1/2 cup edamame pods, steamed (either in the microwave or on the stove top)
Sprinkle with pepper to taste and use 1.5 teaspoons of mustard as a dip.

Dinner

1 medium-sized Chicken breast
Beans
Mustard

Day Two
Breakfast

2 boiled eggs
1 cup of cottage cheese

Snack

1 cup of Greek Yogurt add stevia if you wish.

Lunch

Sardines
3 cherry tomatoes
cucumber and mustard

Snack

Sugar-free jelly

Dinner

Ground Beef
Beans and Lentils
Mustard
